Have you ever reached a point you scooch down to the floor, look back at your life and think, ‘How did I get here?’ ‘Why am I here?’ ‘ Where am I going?’ ‘What did I do wrong?’
When at this point all you can hear, feel and see is regret of a life that would have been or a life that should have been. In most cases, we know that we need to do start over or make changes in our lives. But usually none of us wants to do that. We want to sit and dwell in our sorrows, pain, and regret. Why? Because it is just easy to do so.
Starting over means change. Changing where we live, who we talk to, how we do things and how we believe. At most times we feel like we have failed and by starting over we are unsure if we will fail again. How do we do this then?
- Shift to the reverse gear.
Reverse means going back. They say that one cannot go back in time, but we can reflect and see where we went wrong. This means taking the time to revaluate our past choices without bias and identify where we missed the mark. This could be us not finishing our college education, disconnecting with friends, and making the right financial choices among others. Using the reverse gear allows us an opportunity to mend our wrongs and make our rights. In truth, this isn’t a pleasant journey but it is a doable one if we set our mind to it.
2. Take Small Steps
This new life that you seek to begin filled with such enthusiasm but in equal measure there is the fear of unknown. As such, as you perceive the big picture or rather the future, remember to start with small stable steps. It is very easy to develop anxiety as a result of us seeking to gain the big dreams we have projected and lose sight of the joy that comes with living in the moment and achieving the small goals we have set forth.
3. Level Up
When we see this phrase we mostly associate it with financial growth. However, leveling up is not just limited to increasing our financial capability, it also translates to us upgrading our beliefs, personality, ideas, friends, and lifestyle. Rather being the same timid people we become courageous and expressive. Leveling up is seeking to explore or venturing into higher places that we cowered to do so in our past lives. This could be doing simple things as joining a book club, starting a business, being a mentor, and eating healthier food options. The concept draws us away from our comfort zone so that we experience new challenges and by overcoming them we create a stronger belief system of who our identity and self-awareness.
Be Kind to Yourself
The last bonus tip, is that always be patient and kind to you. Your still going to make mistakes and the fun thing about life is that we can start over as many times as we want. There is no limit but the ones you set. Therefore, set yourself on the pedestal of love and kindness as up there we can also forgive others and give them the chance to start over
